I watched a scene today that broke my heart. Now granted this was in a tv show and was completely scripted, but the kind of event displayed actually happened. I'm not sure what show it was because I honestly just turned on the tv for background noise while we got ready to go fishing. But I couldn't help but get lost in it. In the scene, a few young black men go to a diner and take a seat. Now the time frame is early 60's so things were still segregated. These two men sat on the "white" side and were not only refused service but ridiculed by every white person in the diner. They were called names, food was thrown on them, one girl was spat at, and worst of all one had a pot of hot coffee thrown in his face. Now thankfully our country no longer segregates things and to a point we have learned to respect one another. But to be completely honest I still see plenty of hate between races; And not just white people hating black people. But black people hating middle eastern people or European people hating American people. I wish we could all understand how ridiculous it is to despise a group of people based on nothing but their ethnicity. No matter what your faith you will read that people were made as people. It is the choices we make that define us, not our race. It takes hardly any effort to show kindness and love to a person. In fact, in most cases it takes less time and effort to be kind than it does to continuously hate someone and ridicule them. We have more important things to do with our lives than sit around bitching. Forget the colors, love knows no color.
