Be careful what you wish for

So the other day I went kayaking on the lake. As we went further and further down this creek that connected to it, we discovered a beautiful little spot. It was clear enough to pitch a tent but still had plenty of trees for shade. I started going on and on about staying there. Jokingly, I told my boyfriend "let's go off grid". We laughed and talked about building a little hut and living off the land. Now I'm sure you've heard the phrase, be careful what you wish for. Most of us laugh it off, myself included. The trick here is that I have a habit of saying things that end up happening. (No I am not pshychic please don't ask me for a reading😂)  Most of which consist of me worrying about something that seems entirely unlikely. This was one of those days. When we got home from the lake our phone, cable and wifi were all out. As I stood in astonishment I could feel that I was getting one of those "you did it again asshole" looks. No worries right? I'm sure it's a simple outage or misunderstanding. So we dealt with it for the night and I called the next morning. Come to find out our lines had been completely severed in multiple places. I went from astonishment to extremely irritated and dumbfounded. Who the hell just cuts through cable lines and thinks there won't be consequences? Apparently, the guys doing construction out there do. So I'm now looking at an entire week possibly before they can get someone out to fix it. Now I know what most of you are probably thinking; uhm don't you have a cell phone? Just use your data. Well guess what captain obvious, I thought of that. But you see, at the moment my phone only works on wifi, which I currently don't have. Thankfully I do possess a few skills and hobbies besides texting and scrolling through instagram. Moral of the story kids, be careful what you wish for cause you just might get it. See you next week friends, or at least when I hit public internet access again. ✌🏼
