The Cell Phone Cleanse

I have gone almost two weeks now without having my phone permanantly in my pocket. Now there are several reasons why I've been without it but that's a story for another day. The moral of this story is that I've realized in the last eleven days how much my cell phone used to consume me. It is not uncommon for someone of my age in today's society to be perpetually glued to a cell phone; however setting it aside has been my best decision this year. It was hard at first, like going through withdraw, but now I feel almost cleansed. I've spent these eleven days rediscovering old hobbies and actually living life. There is a stack of new books on my floor where my phone charger used to sit. I have a slight cold from actually going outside for hours at a time. My muscles burn from intense workouts and I've never felt better. I never realized how much control my phone had over me. I've talked to my family more in the past eleven days than i have in months. And aside from calls for work I don't even find myself reaching for my phone. It has been an eye opening experience for me and I would strongly encourage you to take the plunge. Why don't we call it, the cell phone cleanse?
