slow down!

How many of us are constantly moving? How many of us take no time for rest and just go go go? I certainly do; in fact I'm writing this while watching a TED talk. What we need to understand is that this kind of behavior is not the most fulfilling. We think that we can just constantly multitasking and working more and more and never stopping just to take a breath, but we need to slow down. You see while we are doing this we often have our blinders on. While we think we are taking in multiple things at once, and to a point we are, we are not taking them in fully. Its like reading half a book or eating half a sandwich, the other half is wasted. Which in turn means that our time is being wasted. Funny, I thought that's what we were avoiding. Its great to be motivated but you also need to take time to relax and fully enjoy what's going on around you before you miss out on something great. Whether you believe it or not, you do have time to slow down, just a little bit. Your tasks will still be there and you will have the chance to finish them. The difference that slowing down makes is that you become more focused and more aware of what's going on around you. As we all know, being more focused entails higher quality work. Who doesn't want that? Its hard to change habits, but when you think about the benefits, isn't it harder not to change?
